Why does it only something terrible?!

Just today I enjoyed the thought that yes no (western) King of Fighters is live action. Considering to the horror that is called as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat , I succumbed to the hope that technology would suffer KoF by its relatively low popularity never such a cruel fate.

this post I would therefore never have to write, but then I come across the following Wikipedia entry: The King of Fighters (film) !.
Why only? Waruuuuuummmmm? And why must you destroy my hope that this was just a bad joke "Shooting finished on January 19, 2009"? D:
